- A pack of wonton wrappers
- 1 beaten egg
- White or black sesame seeds
- Oil for deep-frying
- Barbecue seasoning and your favorite dipping sauce
Stack two pieces of wonton wrappers.
Fold them in half sideways.
Cut a straight line through the middle. This should give you an opening in the center.
Hold the wrapper with two hands, with the folded part at the bottom.
Take the left end of the wrapper and twist it inward through the opening.
Gently pull it apart to tighten the knot and stay in place.
Beat one egg in a bowl.
Use an oil brush to brush the surface of each knotted wrapper with the beaten egg.
Sprinkle some white or black sesame seeds on top.
Prepare your pot with oil and heat it to around 320°F. The oil should be hot enough for deep-frying to avoid soggines. I recommend oils with a high smoke point such as avocado, peanut, canola, and corn oil.
Once it is hot, carefully fry the wonton pieces until they turn golden brown and crispy.
To enhance the flavor, sprinkle some barbecue seasoning or dip it in a dipping sauce.
